Movement doesn't have to be complicated to be effective. In fact, some of the most powerful ways we support our bodies come from simple, intentional movements done with awareness, breath and choice. That's the heart behind Calisthenics and DanceFIT - two classes designed to help you feel strong, capable and confident in your body, whether you're brand new to exercise or returning after time away. Calisthenics: building a strong foundationCalisthenics is a functional, bodyweight-based class that focuses on everyday movement patterns - things like squatting, pushing, pulling, balancing, getting down to and up from the floor, and moving through space with ease. These are the movements that support daily life: carrying groceries, climbing stairs, gardening, playing with kids or grandkids and simply feeling steady on your feet. Classes are joint friendly and adaptable for all levels. We move with intention, paying attention to breath and body awareness, you're always encouraged to choose the level that feels right for you. Light cardiovascular work and floor exercises help build strength, coordination and resilience - without rushing or forcing. Calisthenics is perfect if you're looking to:
DanceFIT: Moving with JoyDanceFIT is where strength meets rhythm and joy. Set to great music with easy-to-follow choreography, this class blends cardio dance with movement awareness for a feel-good workout that lifts both body and mood. You don't need dance experience - just a willingness to move and have fun. The class is mixed impact, with plenty of options so you can keep things low impact or turn up the intensity depending on how you're feeling that day. DanceFIT is about more than burning calories. It's about reconnecting with your body, improving coordination and rediscovering the joy of movement. We finish class feeling energized, strong and uplifted. Why Take them together?Calisthenics and DanceFIT compliment each other beautifully. Calisthenics helps prepare your body - warming joints, activating muscles and building confidence - so that when you move into DanceFIT, you feel supported and ready to move with freedom and ease. You can absolutely take either class on its own. But together, they create a balanced approach to fitness that supports strength, mobility, cardiovascular health and joy. A Class for Real BodiesThese classes are designed for real people, real bodies and real lives. Everything is taught with options, encouragement and respect for where you're at today.
Whether your goal is to feel stronger, move more confidently, improve balance or simply enjoy moving again, you are welcome here. Come as you are. Move in a way that feels good. And leave feeling stronger - in body and spirit.

Whenever I enter the Prospect Lake Community Hall, I feel a great sense of calm and peace, like I have entered my home. It is a place where a community gathers and celebrates and this joy can be felt within. I am grateful to have this community and my friends that fill it each class. Our classes lift our spirits, and connect us together. Come join us this Christmas season, classes will continue through the holidays with only December 23 and 26 cancelled. Hope you too can feel the joy and peace within the Hall!
What a wonderful summer season of fitness and yoga at the Prospect Lake Community Hall! Classes were well attended and I am so proud of everyone's commitment to their health and fitness through the summer! I am adding a class in the Fall and look forward to September 10th; Tuesdays will have Barre at 9am and Yoga at 10am. I am off for a holiday and look forward to resuming on Tuesday Sept 10th. Fall fitness routines always feel grounding and energizing after a relaxing summer vacation!
I am very excited to go to Rishikesh India and obtain my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate. Look forward to sharing my knowledge and insights when I return to classes on March 8th, 2024. See you soon, Namaste!

Read the article here and then come to my barre classes for your muscular endurance party! In light of new pandemic safety guidelines, our indoor fitness classes are suspended. I appreciate and respect Health officials' decision to keep us all safe.
Our 9am barre classes will resume safely outdoors in the Hall parking area tomorrow, Friday, November 20th. Unfortunately, yoga outdoors is not possible as it is difficult to keep warm. I am hopeful we will resume yoga in the New Year. For tomorrow's class and every Monday, Wednesday, Friday thereafter, please dress appropriately. Hats, rain coats, warm layers, gloves and shoes and your outdoor yoga mat. Rain or shine, I will be there. I hope you will accept this challenge too! I look forward to braving the elements and sweating outdoors safely. Let's keep our distance while we move together and stay strong physically and mentally in these challenging times. Masks are not required. To ensure the safety of ourselves, our community and the ability to be together in fitness, I am implementing new strategies that will further enhance the existing COVID protocols at the Hall. Please wear your mask upon entering, exiting and while preparing your exercise space on the marked sticker on the Hall floor. Masks may be removed once you are ready to begin class. Enter through front doors and please exit through side doors. As usual, please use hand sanitizer provided and socialize from a distance. Remember to layer up with warm clothing as the doors will be open throughout classes. More than ever I am grateful for the opportunity to move with my community and will strive to ensure our continued health both mentally and physically throughout the winter season. It's in our hands now, let do our part. See you in class!
It is wonderful to be back in all the ways...in Victoria and indoors at the Hall! I am grateful beyond words to have community support as we transition inside with new regulations and precautions. The hall has ensured our safety with an increased cleaning schedule after every event. In addition, the size of the Hall allows 2 meters of space between participants. As we move ahead into Fall, please use hand sanitizer provided at the Hall entrance and please stay home if you are feeling unwell. In our little Prospect Lake bubble, it is my hope that we will be able to ride the wave safely together in the little Hall that could!
With a garden like this, I wish our weather was nice enough to always have outdoor classes! The dahlias were a real delight this year and the colours were so vibrant! However, the Hall is so beautiful too! I love this cozy Hall and I'm sure the transition indoors will be easy with plenty of space to move and stretch in comfort. Just a note that prices will increase to reflect the change of venue. Indoor classes will cost $12/drop-in and $100/ 10 class punch card. Hope to move with you soon!
